The Osun State Government has categorically denied allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) claiming Governor Ademola Adeleke received and mismanaged ₦1 trillion in state funds. In an official statement, the administration dismissed the claims as false propaganda.
Government Slams “Devilish Fabrication”
Governor’s spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed condemned the APC’s assertion. He described it as “a devilish fabrication and mischievous propaganda.” Rasheed suggested the opposition party circulated falsehoods anticipating defeat in the 2026 elections.
“Governor Adeleke hasn’t received anything near ₦1 trillion since 2022,” Rasheed stated. He emphasized the administration’s disciplined financial management focused on public needs.
Infrastructure Projects as Evidence
The spokesperson listed completed projects contradicting the APC’s claims:
– 322 kilometers of roads constructed statewide
– Renovation of 200 health centers
– Rehabilitation of over 100 schools
– Ongoing town dualization projects
– Upgraded water works systems
– New flyover bridges and agricultural tractors
– Osogbo Stadium renovation to five-star standard
Financial Management Highlights
Rasheed detailed the administration’s fiscal achievements:
“We’ve cleared 50% of salary arrears from the previous APC government. Pension payments now occur regularly. Our enrolment of 30,000 pensioners in health insurance set a national precedent later adopted by the Federal Government.”
He further noted a 40% reduction in Osun’s debt stock. The governor reportedly hasn’t borrowed funds since 2022 or taken security votes.
Countering Local Government Claims
The spokesperson accused APC of hypocrisy regarding local council finances. He asserted the state government sustained local operations after the opposition “illegally seized” council funds.
Additional Governance Milestones
Other cited achievements include:
– Osun’s NECO ranking improvement from 33rd to 7th nationally
– 40% reduction in infrastructure deficit since 2022
– Recognition as South-West’s leader in primary healthcare access
– Commendations from teachers and pensioners for welfare policies
Rasheed urged the APC to cease “habitual misinformation.” He invited Osun residents to experience what he termed “the state’s most people-centered governance.”
