Prince Dotun Babayemi, a prominent governorship aspirant in Osun State, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This declaration follows his disqualification from the party’s primary election, which is slated for December 13, 2025.
Several other notable aspirants also faced disqualification. These include former Deputy Governor and APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
Immediate past Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi was also on the list. Other affected individuals are Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), and Babatunde Haketer Oralusi.
Initially, some aspirants described their disqualification as “a huge joke.” However, Babayemi adopted a different stance.
In a statement released on Wednesday, he confirmed his acceptance of the decision. He affirmed his belief that the decision was made in good faith.
Babayemi further stressed his unwavering loyalty to the APC. He also appealed to his supporters to maintain calm.
He urged them to continue lending their support to the party. This is crucial as the 2026 governorship election approaches.
Reflecting on his campaign, Babayemi stated, “As a gubernatorial aspirant, I have traversed 299 out of the 332 wards in Osun State.”
He added, “I consistently spread President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope message. I have always maintained that the party remains supreme.”
“I will abide by its decision on who flies the flag in 2026,” he declared.
Babayemi also commented on recent party activities. He noted that the party leadership has been active.
“Our party leaders at both National and State levels are busy,” he explained. “They operate under the wise guidance of President Bola Tinubu.”
He detailed their current focus. “They are working to resolve emerging issues. The aim is to reach a workable resolution.”
“This will keep our party united,” he affirmed. “It will also enable us to regain power in Osun by 2026.”
Babayemi concluded by reiterating his commitment. “I restate my commitment to the ideals of the Progressives,” he affirmed.
“I am prepared to abide by the Party’s resolutions. This applies to the 2026 Governorship Election.”
He stressed the importance of collective goals. “Delivering good governance to our people supersedes any individual desires.”
