The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially set Tuesday, December 2, 2025, for its Osun State governorship primary election. This decision follows the successful conclusion of its ad hoc and national delegates congresses.
Mr. Theophilus Dakas Shan, the party’s National Organising Secretary, confirmed this in a statement. He revealed that the PDP has already notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about its timetable and preparations for the upcoming primary.
The statement urged all strategic stakeholders and the general public to note that the primary to elect the gubernatorial candidate will proceed as planned.
An Electoral Committee has been fully constituted by the PDP. This committee will oversee the primary election, which is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The party also highlighted the success of the delegate congresses. These events took place on November 24 and November 29, 2025. Their successful completion has now cleared the path for the much-anticipated primary election.
The PDP stressed the importance of adhering to party processes. This adherence is particularly crucial now, as aspirants enter the final stage of contending for the party ticket.
All governorship hopefuls received a strong reminder to strictly comply with the party’s constitution and internal guidelines.
“Candidates cleared for the primaries must conduct themselves according to the party’s constitution,” Mr. Shan warned. He added, “Any act of indiscipline will lead to sanctions.”
