Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, attended the Accord Party’s governorship primary in Osogbo. His deputy, Kola Adewusi, and other top government officials joined him. This event sets the stage for the 2026 governorship election. Security was notably tight at the venue. Armed police and Department of State Services (DSS) operatives maintained order. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials also monitored the proceedings.
Governor Adeleke arrived with a strong delegation. This included commissioners, special advisers, and senior special assistants. Their presence highlighted robust institutional support. It signals backing for his new political platform. Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, the Accord Party National Chairman, was also present. He led a delegation from the party’s national headquarters.
At the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, Adeleke made a significant declaration. He announced his intention to seek re-election in 2026. This bid will be on the Accord Party platform. He cited internal crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as his reason.
“I joined the Accord Party over a month ago,” Adeleke stated. “Precisely on November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026.” He added that this decision followed weeks of consultation. He spoke with various stakeholders and opinion leaders.
“Residents of Osun State understand why we are taking this important step,” he explained. “We aim for a second term in office. This will be on the Accord Party platform.” He wants to complete the delivery of good governance. This also includes democratic dividends. These efforts have received praise both locally and internationally.
“We chose the Accord Party,” he concluded. “Its mission of welfarism aligns perfectly with our passionate focus on citizens and workers’ welfare.”
