The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has strongly criticized Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his silence regarding the death of a teenager reportedly struck by his convoy. The opposition party expressed concern about the victim’s hurried burial and linked the fatality to alleged failures at General Hospital Oka-Akoko.
In a formal statement, the PDP demanded transparent explanations from the state government. It described Governor Aiyedatiwa’s continued silence as unacceptable and disrespectful to the deceased’s family. The party emphasized this stance reflects public concern over the incident.
According to PDP accounts, the victim was initially rushed to General Hospital Oka-Akoko. Medical staff there allegedly couldn’t provide adequate care due to the facility’s poor condition. He was later transferred to Federal Medical Centre Owo where he died. The party noted the burial occurred shortly after with no official explanation.
The PDP highlighted the absence of any official statement clarifying the incident’s circumstances. This lack of communication has fueled public questions about accountability.
Governor Aiyedatiwa responded through his Special Adviser on Communication, Allen Sowore. He categorically denied convoy involvement: “The Governor’s convoy wasn’t responsible for any accident that day. This holds true for all days during our ongoing Thank-You Tour across Ondo’s 18 LGAs.”
