An All Progressives Congress (APC) faction in Ondo State has dismissed recent concerns. On Thursday, they stated that the emerging African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition poses no challenge. The group remains confident ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speculations have circulated about Atiku Abubakar. Many believe he might become the ADC’s presidential candidate for 2027. This possibility has stirred significant interest in opposition party realignments.
Despite this, Adesuyi Adojutelegan remains unfazed. He serves as the Director-General of the Ondo APC group. In a statement released Thursday, Adojutelegan affirmed that the ADC poses “no threat” to President Bola Tinubu’s ambition for a second term.
“It is clear that the ADC cannot dislodge the APC,” Adojutelegan stated. He added, “We know Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, has now joined them. We are not worried. Even if he becomes their presidential candidate, Tinubu will still defeat him.”
Earlier, Adojutelegan inaugurated ward and local government coordinators. This event took place in Okitipupa. He then urged all APC members to boost mobilisation efforts. These efforts should span across Ondo South in preparation for the 2027 polls.
He further declared, “To be honest, Tinubu faces no opposition for the coming 2027 election. The President’s performance speaks for itself.”
Tinubu’s Visible Achievements and Policies
According to Adojutelegan, President Tinubu’s efforts against insecurity are clearly visible.
“He is actively addressing our security challenges,” Adojutelegan noted. He added, “Everyone can see it. I am confident he will make Nigeria safer for all. People will live without any fear or intimidation.”
Adojutelegan characterized the ADC as “a party of aggrieved politicians.” He believes they are trying to undermine President Tinubu’s achievements. The Director-General insisted that the President remains Nigeria’s best option. He pointed to two years of “numerous achievements.” These include significant progress in nationwide road infrastructure.
He also highlighted Tinubu’s economic initiatives. The student loan programme was specifically mentioned. These policies, he said, “enhance educational access for underprivileged students.”
The group’s coordinator also commended Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior. Adojutelegan lauded his invaluable support. This support was directed towards the APC structure in the state.
He tasked the newly inaugurated coordinators. Their role is to aggressively spread President Tinubu’s message throughout their communities.
“I encourage you all to engage in aggressive campaigning,” he urged. This campaign should cover all wards. It must also reach the six local government areas of the southern senatorial district.
