Nigerian vocal powerhouse Omawumi has shared intimate details about her connections with two late music icons: rapper Dagrin and producer Dokta Frabz. During a recent interview, the singer clarified the nature of these relationships, separating friendship from romance.
Platonic Bond with Dagrin
Omawumi described her relationship with the late Dagrin as purely platonic. The “If You Ask Me” singer emphasized their strong friendship, stating they frequently spent time together during his lifetime. She dismissed past rumors about romantic involvement following their 2009 collaborative hit “Thank God.”
“Dagrin was my guy – we used to hang out together,” Omawumi recalled. “He was a fantastic person.” The rapper tragically died in an auto accident in April 2010.
Romantic Connection with Dokta Frabz
The singer openly confirmed a romantic relationship with late producer Dokta Frabz, who passed away in 2021. She revealed being captivated by his musical passion and extraordinary talent. Their studio sessions featured intimate moments where Frabz would maintain eye contact while singing.
“I was drawn to Dokta Frabz because he was such a lover of music,” Omawumi explained. “He was incredibly talented. He would look into my eyes while singing and I would be cheering.”
This connection led Omawumi to spend significant time at his studio, where she networked with numerous industry figures. “I met most music industry personalities through Dokta Frabz,” she acknowledged. “We actually dated.”
