Nigerian rap icon Olamide Adedeji has firmly stated he isn’t seeking global validation through musical compromise. The “Skido” hitmaker emphasizes that authentic connection with his core audience remains his priority.
Olamide believes international recognition follows genuine artistry. He insists he won’t alter his signature sound to court Western listeners. Staying rooted in his Nigerian identity remains non-negotiable.
“Identify your audience first,” Olamide advised. “The world eventually catches up with true artistry. I must remain authentic regardless of circumstances. My Nigerian roots define me.”
The rapper expressed pride in his heritage. “I’m comfortable as a Naija guy, a Yoruba boy. This H-Factor is my essence. Authenticity always triumphs,” he declared.
In related comments, Olamide described fellow stars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as “troublesome.” During an Adesope Live interview, he acknowledged their friendship but noted fundamental differences.
“They’re cool people,” Olamide clarified. “But we often disagree on many matters. Our perspectives don’t always align.” This highlights the complex dynamics among Nigeria’s music giants.
