Nigerian singer Odumodublvck has spoken out. He reacted to the tragic death of sixteen prospective corps members. They died in a fatal road accident. The incident happened as they journeyed to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp. This camp is located in Gombe State.
Reacting to the devastating incident, Odumodublvck called for a review. He urged the NYSC to re-evaluate its deployment system. The rapper specifically requested that youths be posted to states near their homes.
He noted that the current policy, though initially well-intended, has become too risky. This is due to the country’s present state. Odumodublvck pleaded for compassion for parents. Many are losing their children in such tragic accidents.
The artist shared his thoughts on social media. He directly addressed the NYSC. His message read: “@officialnyscng PLEASE IT’S HIGH TIME WE SUSPEND THE POSTING OF OUR YOUTHS TO DIFFERENT STATES OTHER THAN WHERE THEY ARE BASED.”
He continued, “IT ALL STARTED OFF AS A BRILLIANT IDEA BUT NOW WITH THE STATE OF OUR COUNTRY IT’S NOT SUSTAINABLE. PLEASE PITY THE PARENTS. KIDS ARE DYING. MOVE WITH THE TIMES 🙏🏿❤️.”
All victims were graduates from Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED). The university is located in Ondo State. They were travelling in an 18-seater bus. The tragic accident occurred during this journey.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as extremely severe. Emergency responders worked at the scene. They recovered the bodies of the deceased. The injured were taken to a nearby medical facility.
As of now, the NYSC has not released an official statement. However, investigations are underway. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) leads these efforts. Other authorities are assisting to determine the crash’s cause.
