Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has acknowledged recent resignations. These include Director of Mobilisation Morris Monye and other interim appointees.
Tanko confirmed a communication gap between Peter Obi and the movement. This follows Monye’s resignation statement.
Monye cited unfulfilled goals as his reason for leaving. He also mentioned structural deficiencies and personal harassment.
Despite his financial contributions to Obi’s presidential bid, Monye found his position untenable. The movement’s poor Anambra election performance influenced his decision.
Tanko’s Official Response
In a Saturday statement, Tanko thanked departing members. He acknowledged their service in rescuing Nigeria from “bankrupt politics.”
The coordinator urged members to remain committed. He emphasized positive contributions to Nigeria’s renewal process.
Tanko vowed the movement would maintain high standards. He specifically ruled out spying, bigotry, and thuggery.
Future plans include consultations and new actions. Tanko aims to position the movement as Nigeria’s transformation vanguard.
He concluded with a call for continued faith. The mission for national redemption remains paramount, Tanko affirmed.
