Popular Nigerian On-Air Personality (OAP), Dotun Kayode, has openly accused the United States Embassy in Nigeria. He claims they aided his estranged wife in taking their two daughters abroad without his consent.
His estranged wife had previously alleged domestic violence, emotional abuse, and a forced abortion. Dotun has consistently denied these claims.
In response, Dotun filed counterclaims. He stated that his wife and her family began restricting his access to their children.
Accusations Against the US Embassy
Dotun recently made fresh claims on his social media handle. He highlighted the US Embassy’s alleged role in his ongoing custody battle. The OAP accused the embassy of violating a court order. He labeled their actions as aiding international child abduction.
According to Dotun, his estranged wife unlawfully removed their daughters from Nigeria. She took them to the United States three years ago. This happened without his consent. A divorce and custody case was active in a federal high court at the time.
Dotun stated he held the children’s original passports. A valid court order also prevented the children from leaving the country’s jurisdiction.
Call for Accountability
He has demanded accountability from the embassy. Dotun specifically called out former consular general, Mary Beth Leonard. He believes a compromised and biased process facilitated his ex-wife’s actions.
Dotun expressed strong sentiments online. “Papers were most likely forged, or games played,” he wrote. He described the American Embassy in Nigeria as an “enabler of child abduction.” He added, “They are very biased. There was no proper investigation.”
Dotun claimed the embassy “destroys families and does not protect kids.” He revealed, “I have written for years and kept quiet for 3 years. It’s time.” He concluded with a sharp critique. “I have realised you all think you uphold a fair system,” he stated. “But you are very unfair,” he added.
The OAP has now challenged the embassy. He wants them to either produce his children. Alternatively, he seeks an explanation for how their strict two-parent consent policy was bypassed. He terms this circumvention as enabling international parental child abduction.
