National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has issued a firm warning to political stakeholders ahead of Anambra State’s November 8, 2025 governorship election. The security chief declared that violence will receive zero tolerance during the electoral process.
Speaking at Tuesday’s Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) meeting in Abuja, Ribadu emphasized the government’s commitment to secure polls. Represented by Internal Security Director Hassan Abdullahi, the NSA reaffirmed efforts to create peaceful voting conditions.
Political parties and candidates received direct instructions to promote peaceful conduct. Ribadu urged them to actively discourage violence throughout the electoral cycle. This includes the pre-election, voting, and post-election periods.
The security chief confirmed ongoing engagement with political leaders across Anambra. “We’re sending a clear message through local stakeholders,” Ribadu stated. “Violence won’t be tolerated under any circumstances.”
Ribadu’s office is executing President Bola Tinubu’s directive for strategic security deployment. Enhanced measures include intensified surveillance across the state. Additional security personnel will be strategically positioned at key locations.
Intelligence operations have also been strengthened to preempt disruptions. These precautions aim to prevent interference by violent elements. The NSA specifically cautioned against attempts by desperate politicians to undermine voting integrity.
