Nasarawa United has roared back to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The Solid Miners secured a commanding 3-0 victory on Sunday. They defeated El-Kanemi Warriors at the Lafia Township Stadium.
This impressive win puts them back at the NPFL summit. Nasarawa United now boasts 27 points.
Nasarawa United Dominates El-Kanemi Warriors
Anas Yusuf opened the scoring for Nasarawa. He converted a penalty in the 39th minute. Yusuf wasted no time in doubling the lead. He scored again immediately after the break, in the 46th minute.
Garba Mohammed sealed their dominant display just two minutes later. His goal in the 48th minute made it 3-0. This left the Maiduguri side reeling. El-Kanemi Warriors now sit 12th on the table.
“This win is a huge boost for our campaign,” a jubilant Nasarawa coach stated after the game. “The players showed great determination and focus throughout.”
Remo Stars Climb Into Top Half
Meanwhile, defending champions Remo Stars also made significant strides. They moved into the NPFL’s top half. This followed a 2-0 home triumph over Barau. The match took place at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
Ahmed Akinyele put the Sky Blue Stars ahead early. He scored in the 15th minute. Victor Mbaoma then doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.
The victory lifts Remo Stars to 10th place. They now have 19 points. This marks successive wins for them, having previously beaten Kano Pillars. Remo Stars also hold a game in hand against Shooting Stars. Their next challenge will be an away trip to Minna to face Niger Tornadoes. Only a single point separates the two teams. Barau, on the other hand, remains in 19th position. They are seven points clear of bottom-placed Kano Pillars.
Other Matchday 14 Results
Elsewhere, Enugu Rangers continued their push for a top-six spot. They edged Niger Tornadoes 1-0. Kenechukwu Agu scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute.
Wikki Tourists drew 1-1 with Bayelsa United. Nasiru Jibrin had put Bayelsa ahead early. However, Ifeanyi Ogba secured a late equalizer for Wikki in the 87th minute. Warri Wolves also shared points with Kun Khalifat in another 1-1 draw. Abia Warriors and Bendel Insurance played out a goalless draw. Kwara United and Shooting Stars also settled for a 0-0 stalemate.
Rivers United were absent from weekend action. This was due to their continental commitments. They currently have three games in hand. These include postponed fixtures against Plateau United, Kano Pillars, and Barau.

The NPFL table now shows a tightly contested race at the top. Nasarawa United leads with 27 points. Ikorodu City follows with 24 points. Rivers United and Abia Warriors both have 23 points.
