Nasarawa United striker Anas Yusuf has earned a nomination for the Best Striker prize at the prestigious 2025 Nigerian Pitch Awards.
The NPFL top scorer faces stiff competition from Super Eagles stars Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) and Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray). Yusuf secured his nomination following an outstanding 18-goal campaign during the 2024-2025 season.
The forward has maintained his scoring form this season, netting six goals already for Nasarawa United.

Currently positioned 19th in the NPFL table with 17 points, Kun Khalifat hopes Israel’s arrival will boost their attacking options. The club faces Wikki Tourists this weekend in their Matchday 18 fixture.
Rivers United’s Defeat Analysis
In Kano, Rivers United suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Barau FC at Sani Abacha Stadium on Friday. Coach Yemi Olarewaju attributed the loss to player fatigue despite taking an early lead through Osimaga Duke.
“We dominated most of the game but fatigue affected the outcome,” Olarewaju stated. “We’ll put this behind us and focus on the next match.” The defeat ended Rivers United’s seven-game unbeaten away run.
Barau FC coach Ladan Bosso praised his team’s response after their recent home loss: “Conceding early was a careless mistake, but the players showed tremendous determination to secure this victory against a continental-level opponent.”
Barau FC now prepares for Tuesday’s NPFL fixture against Nasarawa United as the league season continues.
