Veteran Nollywood actor Akin Lewis recently spoke about his first marriage. He confessed he is still confused about why the union ended.
Lewis shared his thoughts on the African A-List Podcast. There, he discussed love, personal loss, and his long career in Nigerian cinema.
He explained that the marriage’s sudden end deeply affected him. It forced him to re-evaluate his understanding of relationships and human behaviour.
The experience left him with many unanswered questions. This made it a very difficult period to overcome.
Despite the heartbreak, the actor chose not to let the experience destroy him. Instead, he focused on personal growth. He also dedicated himself to his career and a deeper understanding of life.
He believes this setback made him stronger. It also deepened his commitment to his work.
Lewis stated, “I still don’t understand why my first wife left. Even after all these years, it remains a mystery to me.”
He added, “The sudden end of that marriage shook me deeply. It completely changed how I see relationships and people.”
“It was one of the saddest times in my life. It left questions I never got answers to,” he concluded.
Akin Lewis on Veteran Actors’ Fees
During the podcast, Lewis also addressed complaints from some film producers. These complaints concern the fees charged by veteran Nollywood actors.
He expressed his displeasure at such views. He believes they show a lack of respect for years of hard work and dedication.
The actor highlighted his extensive career. He has spent over five decades in film and theatre. Many years involved formal training and continuous learning.
He still studies his craft. This ensures he remains sharp and relevant in the industry.
Lewis made it clear: experienced actors should not be expected to work for less. They should not feel lucky just to be cast in films.
He insisted that anyone seeking his services must meet professional standards. These include proper payment, respect, and fair treatment.
