Nollywood star Zainab Balogun recently shared her astonishment after being charged ₦10,000 for a single cup of tea at a Lagos restaurant. The actress recounted the incident through her Instagram platform, revealing she only discovered the exorbitant price when the bill arrived.
Balogun described the beverage as essentially hot water containing two tea bags served in a pot. She admitted consuming it without checking the menu prices beforehand, leaving her with little recourse when presented with the surprising bill.
“My mouth dropped so much I hoped neighboring diners didn’t notice,” the television host exclaimed. “How could boiled water with two tea bags cost ₦10,000?” Despite her disbelief, Balogun acknowledged she had to settle the bill since she’d already consumed the tea.
The actress humorously regretted not maximizing the expensive experience. “I should have joined another patron doing a photoshoot,” she remarked. “You must utilize both the space and your money effectively.”
This incident has reshaped Balogun’s approach to dining out. She firmly declared: “There’s tea at home. This won’t happen again.” The costly experience has prompted the celebrity to adopt more cautious habits when visiting restaurants.
