Popular Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola, has officially reconciled with veteran filmmaker, Afeez Owo. This follows their heated exchange across various social media platforms.
The Public Disagreement
The dispute began when Afeez Owo commented on Toriola’s acting roles. He suggested her on-screen characters were “similar to her character in real life.” He added that “violence is her comfort zone.”
Afeez clarified that Wunmi does not tolerate nonsense. He noted she reacts strongly when people provoke her.
In response, Wumi Toriola took to her Instagram page. She heavily criticized Afeez, labeling his interview as “rubbish.” She also questioned why every disagreement in the industry ends up on a podcast.
She wrote, “So should we also go and rent a husband to hold the mic and spoil things? The person this sub is for knows it already. You’re an elder, please stop this.”
Wumi continued her strong reaction. “Must every rift now be dragged to podcasts? They gave you a mic, and you started talking rubbish. They gave you pepper soup, and you began blabbing. Am I a mad woman? Will I lash out if people don’t offend me? Have I ever insulted you before? Despite all your unfortunate behaviours, I still respect you.”
The Reconciliation
However, the two actors put their differences aside on Wednesday evening. Their reconciliation occurred at the movie premiere of their colleague, actor Odunlade Adekola.
A now-viral video captured the moment Wumi approached Afeez. She respectfully knelt before him and offered a sincere apology for her earlier remarks. “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me,” she pleaded.
Afeez Owo initially seemed to avoid her. However, he eventually lifted her from her knees and embraced her, signaling the end of their dispute.
