Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro has been suspended indefinitely. This decision comes from a joint resolution by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP).
The suspension follows an altercation on a movie set. The incident involved his colleague, Peggy Ovire.
According to a joint document dated November 27, 2025, the three guilds reviewed findings from their disciplinary committees. They concluded that Taiye Arimoro was the primary aggressor in the incident.
Arimoro was found to have assaulted both the production manager and the driver. He also circulated a misleading live video. This video misrepresented the actual events. It falsely dragged producer Peggy Ovire into the issue. She was not present during the initial altercation.
As a result, the guilds issued a unified decision. They suspended the movie star from all Nollywood productions. This suspension remains until further notice.
Conditions for Reinstatement
The Guild has outlined specific conditions for Arimoro’s reinstatement. He is expected to make a public apology. This apology should be directed to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director. He must also release a corrective video. This video needs to state the actual sequence of events clearly.
Additionally, Taiye Arimoro has been directed to return and complete his remaining scenes for the movie. This will be done under supervised conditions. He must also comply fully with any further instructions from the guilds.
Guild Leadership Emphasizes Welfare and Trust
Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, commented on the suspension documents. He expressed his deep connection to the well-being of every actor in the Guild. Rollas stated that this step comes from a place of responsibility, compassion, and a desire to restore trust within Nollywood.
He stressed that AGN operates as a family. Every action taken must protect its members’ well-being. Rollas affirmed that the decision reflects love for the industry. It aims to heal, restore trust, and strengthen the bonds shared among members.
Rollas acknowledged the struggles and silent battles many actors face daily. He assured members that the leadership is listening. The Guild sees their concerns and feels their frustrations. He reiterated the commitment to doing what is right, even when it is difficult.
This decision, he explained, is part of a journey to rebuild. It seeks to create fairness and ensure no one is left behind. It serves as a reminder that unity remains the industry’s greatest strength. Rollas pledged to lead with transparency, compassion, and an open heart. His promise is to stand for justice and protect every actor’s dignity. He envisions a future where trust is restored, relationships are mended, and all members feel valued.
