The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has initiated a nationwide search. They are actively seeking politicians with strong capacity and integrity. This significant mobilization effort comes in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
Mr. Boniface Aniebonam, the party’s Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, formally announced this development. He issued a statement from Lagos on Friday.
The party has also directed all state executive councils to commence a comprehensive membership drive. This includes registering new members and updating existing membership registers.
Aniebonam stressed strict criteria for prospective party members. He stated that state and local government NNPP executives must ensure all accepted politicians possess verifiable records, integrity, and honour.
Addressing the Kwankwaso Leadership Tussle
“Our time was heavily consumed by a leadership tussle,” Aniebonam explained. This conflict involved the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya Movement, led by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Attempts to hijack the NNPP resulted in various litigations. These legal challenges significantly affected the party’s ability to participate in past elections.
“We are now nearing the resolution of these issues,” Aniebonam affirmed. He called for a united effort. The collective goal is to advance the NNPP’s core objective: establishing good governance in Nigeria, guided by divine principles.
Party Ideals and Former Members
Aniebonam clarified the party’s position regarding current members. Those unwilling to align with the NNPP’s fundamental ideals are free to join other political organizations.
“We harbour no ill feelings towards anyone,” he declared. “Instead, we offer our appreciation and prayers for our former members. We wish them success wherever they may have relocated.”
He urged party members to practice forgiveness for past betrayals. “As human beings, and in line with God’s wisdom, we must forgive,” Aniebonam stated. These betrayals ultimately led to their expulsion. He advised members not to be troubled by distractions or negative intentions. “We are children of God. Victory awaits us. We firmly believe that everything will soon be well.”
As the NNPP founder, Aniebonam confirmed he has personally moved past these betrayals. He holds no grudge against Senator Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima in particular.
Clarifying NNPP’s Official Logo and Identity
“Our advice to the Kwankwasiya Movement group was straightforward,” Aniebonam explained. The party urged them to cease negotiating under the NNPP name. They were also advised to stop using an incorrect logo.
He precisely described the official NNPP logo. It features a basket of fruits, rendered in green and white colours. The red colour and book symbol, he pointed out, exclusively represent the Kwankwasiya Movement.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot legally register two distinct political parties sharing the same name but featuring different logos.
Aniebonam expressed his hope that Kwankwaso and his group would utilize Nigeria’s multi-party system. They have the option to join any other legally registered political party in Nigeria. Alternatively, they could reactivate their former NAP (Nigeria Alliance Party), which INEC had previously deregistered.
