A Nigerian fashion designer urgently seeks help after losing N2.6 million in a Lagos apartment scam. The victim, known as @dorah_xo online, paid for a two-bedroom unit in October with her sister, hoping to establish a permanent residence.
Shockingly, they discovered the identical property was sold to over 30 individuals. The developer accepted payments from all buyers before disappearing completely.
Developer Disappears After Payment Collection
According to the victim’s account, the property seller vanished without explanation. Multiple buyers were left stranded with no communication channels. Authorities were contacted but provided inadequate assistance.
@dorah_xo revealed she took extra virtual assistant work to afford the apartment. This financial sacrifice intensified her distress over the loss.
In a social media video, she expressed: “We’ve received no meaningful response despite contacting officials. Our current residence lease expires this November.”
Imminent Housing Deadline
The victim faces homelessness when her current rent expires next month. She and her sister lack alternative accommodation options.
Public Warning Issued
@dorah_xo cautioned Nigerians about Lagos property risks: “Rental hunting has become horrific. One man collected from 30 people for a single property then vanished. I’m sharing this to prevent others experiencing this nightmare.”
She documented her experience in a video shared on social media.
