A Nigerian man recently recounted his visit to his former secondary school. He went there to check on a tree he planted in SS1.
His experience was featured in a video on his TikTok account, @farmer.olufad. The post quickly gained popularity, attracting over 20,000 likes.
Revisiting an Enduring School Legacy
In his widely shared TikTok video, the farmer identified his secondary school as Alma Master in Lagos. He clarified that the tree was specifically assigned to him.
He further noted that he served as the head of a climate change club. This club was initiated by former Lagos governor, Raji Fashola.
@FarmerOlufad revealed his initial career aspirations. He first aspired to a medical career. However, he eventually pursued studies in forestry.
The video clearly shows the farmer’s joy. He stands proudly beside the thriving tree, his excitement evident.
He shared his reflections:
“During secondary school in 2009, I led the Climate Change Club. Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola founded it. We aimed to plant trees and win awards. I received no prize then. But I gained something greater: a sense of purpose. Fifteen years later, I revisited my alma mater. My Gmelina arborea tree still stands tall. This proves impact outlives applause.”
“I once envisioned a path in medicine. Yet, destiny guided me to forestry. Today, I appreciate this journey. Visionary leaders sow seeds. Their true worth emerges over time.”
