The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially nominated Dr. Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as its candidate for the 2025 Anambra governorship election. The businessman-turned-politician will challenge incumbent Governor Charles Soludo of APGA, alongside contenders from PDP and Labour Party.
Road to Candidacy
Ukachukwu secured the APC ticket after winning the party’s primary election. Former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje formally presented his certificate of return on April 19, 2025. The candidate has selected Ekwunife Uche Lilian as his running mate, creating a ticket blending political experience with grassroots appeal.
Dubbed “Ikukuoma Ndi Igbo,” Ukachukwu campaigns under the slogan “Anambra ga-adi mma ozo!” (Anambra will be better again). His platform prioritizes job creation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and transparent governance.
Early Life and Education
Born March 20, 1967, in Dimala village, Osumenyi, Nicholas Ukachukwu is the son of Chief Nnadialor and Madam Loveline Ukachukwu. He attended Omaigwe Primary School and Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha. He holds a B.Sc in Business Administration from the University of Calabar and an honorary doctorate from Tansian University (2016).
Business Empire
Ukachukwu built SNECOU Group Limited, a conglomerate spanning oil and gas, construction, real estate, agriculture, media, and education. His signature projects include Prince & Princess Estate, Good Homes Estate, and Shalom Villa Estate in Abuja. He founded British Nigeria Academy and European University of Nigeria, while chairing multiple companies including Snecou Financial Services.
Political Journey
Ukachukwu’s political career began in 1997 as the first non-indigene elected Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council. He later represented AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives (1999), chairing committees on FCT and Oil & Gas. Though elected Senator for Anambra South in 2003, his mandate was truncated. Previous gubernatorial bids include PPA (2006), HDP (2010), and an APGA Senate run in 2019.
Philanthropy and Recognition
The APC candidate sponsors scholarships, healthcare initiatives, and youth empowerment programs across Nigeria. His businesses have created thousands of jobs and supported skill acquisition programs. Ukachukwu has received multiple national and international honors for his contributions.
Personal Life
Ukachukwu has five children from his first marriage. In December 2023, he married Mitchel Ihezue, Miss Universe Nigeria 2023.
