Senator Ned Nwoko has spoken out about his wife, Regina Daniels. He insists she must undergo rehabilitation. This, he says, is crucial to safeguard her life. It will also ensure she is mentally stable enough to raise their children.
The lawmaker shared these views in an interview. He spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday.
Concerns Over Behaviour and Toxicology Results
Nwoko’s insistence on rehabilitation stems from various factors. He cited a series of “alarming toxicology results.” He also noted a sudden shift in the actress’s behaviour.
According to him, Regina’s personality has changed significantly. Her previously calm nature has given way to violent and destructive tendencies. She has also experienced recurrent health crises.
“I want her alive and healthy,” he stated. “This is not just for me, but for our children.”
He added, “We have two young kids together. They cannot fight for themselves. I am going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.”
Multiple Hospital Visits Cited
The senator revealed he has taken Regina to Nizamiye Hospital three times. These visits followed instances where she reportedly suffered drug overdoses.
“I have lived with this problem for eight good months,” Nwoko explained. “On three occasions, I had to carry her to Nizamiye Hospital unconscious. This was due to a drug overdose. You can go and verify it.”
Nwoko presented toxicology results. He claimed these results support his drug-abuse concerns. He believes anyone discouraging her from seeking proper rehabilitation is an enemy to both mother and children.
“Baseless Distractions” and a Challenge
He dismissed recent social media denials by Regina’s mother and siblings. He called them “baseless distractions.”
“Everybody has to calm down and join hands to save her,” he urged. “However, she and her mother are living in denial.”
Nwoko issued a challenge. “If her mother and supporters want to prove me wrong,” he said, “let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice. I will pay for it.”
Allegations of Negative Influence
Responding to queries about what led Regina into alleged drug use, Nwoko pointed fingers. He accused some of Regina’s siblings and their friends of negative influence.
“I don’t think it is bad to trust her siblings and their friends around my wife,” he remarked. “However, her brother, Sammy, and his friends have influenced her negatively.”
He further alleged, “Her close relations and friends, whom I trusted, are exploiting her. They supply her with drugs, leading to her addiction.”
Nwoko claimed that whenever Regina made progress, this same circle “smuggled in” substances. These were substances she was trying to quit.
Refuting Rita Daniels’ Claim
Nwoko also addressed an allegation by Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels. She had suggested one of his sons died in the UK from a drug overdose.
He labeled this claim “an inhuman attack.” He maintained that no autopsy linked his son’s death to drug-related complications.
Context of the Marital Dispute
The marital dispute became public recently. Regina had accused the senator of physical assault. She also announced her disinterest in the marriage.
Nwoko denies the assault allegation. He insists Regina’s recent conduct is linked to substance abuse. He believes she requires urgent medical intervention.
