Bayer Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand has provided an update on Nathan Tella’s injury status. The Nigerian winger continues his recovery journey after being sidelined for over a month.
Tella’s Extended Rehabilitation
Tella sustained a knee injury in September. He returned to training earlier this month. Hjulmand revealed the recovery proved more complex than anticipated. The 25-year-old won’t return until after the international break.
“Tella’s situation was more difficult than we first thought,” Hjulmand told Werkself Extra. “He needs the international break. His condition improves daily. But I can’t specify an exact return date.”
The Super Eagles forward has made just four appearances this season. Leverkusen remains cautious about rushing his comeback. His return would boost the Bundesliga champions.
Onuachu’s Galatasaray Challenge
Meanwhile, Paul Onuachu prepares for a crucial Turkish Super Lig match. His Trabzonspor side visits Galatasaray at RAMS Park this weekend. The Nigerian striker seeks his first goal against the Istanbul giants.
Onuachu boasts impressive form this season. He has scored seven goals in ten league matches. He also provided one assist. The 30-year-old already netted against Fenerbahce and Besiktas.
“Scoring against Galatasaray would be special,” Onuachu told Kuzey Ekspres. He aims to complete his scoring record against Istanbul’s top clubs.
