Popular Nigerian actor and skit maker Debo Adedayo, known as Mr. Macaroni, has vehemently denied a recent rape accusation. The claim surfaced on social media.
A social media user posted the accusation. It claimed Mr. Macaroni “raped a 17-year-old girl and used police to oppress her family.” The post also questioned his role as an activist.
Mr. Macaroni quickly responded to the claim. He identified the accuser as a supporter of President Bola Tinubu. The person also backed the All Progressives Congress (APC). He stressed that he is “not new to their lies.”
He explained his decision to address the tweet despite its low visibility. He called the accusation “horrendous and distasteful.” He stated, “This isn’t just any other attack; this is a false accusation of rape.”
Mr. Macaroni reiterated his belief that the accusation serves as propaganda. He linked it to his consistent criticism of the government. He maintained that holding the government accountable is a duty of every good citizen.
He further expressed his expectation of such tactics from APC supporters. He said he does not “naturally expect any form of sanity or dignity from him or her.”
The skit maker emphasized the need to act against “deranged individuals” spreading such falsehoods. He warned that inaction would allow them to “infest society with their disease.”
He mentioned checking the accuser’s profile. He found a pattern of praising the President and government. This person also consistently attacked critics of the administration. Mr. Macaroni appealed for information about the individual. This would help him “take necessary action against this raving lunatic.”
Finally, he used the moment to strongly refute this “ridiculous accusation.” He also dismissed any future similar claims from “infested supporters of the APC.” Mr. Macaroni affirmed his commitment to continue criticizing the government, calling it an “abomination.”
