Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, the widow of the late Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, has taken significant legal steps to prevent any unauthorized claims or control over her husband’s estate.
According to a letter dated November 19, 2025, from the law firm Salawu, Akingbolu & Co., Mohbad’s widow confirmed filing Form 5 and Form 6. These legal documents are designed to bar the issuance of Letters of Administration to any party not recognized by law.
The correspondence, signed by I. P. Awo (Esq.), further confirms Omowunmi’s status. She is identified as the deceased’s legal wife and the mother of his only surviving child, Master Liam Aloba.
She also placed public announcements in two national newspapers in November 2025. These notices warned against any “surreptitious or fraudulent attempts” to claim the estate without proper legal process.
Her legal team emphasized that this notice now resides in court records. It remains binding until the estate is duly and lawfully administered. They stated that no irregular attempt to bypass the legal process would be entertained.
This is especially pertinent, “given that the deceased’s lawful wife and son are still alive.” This legal action comes amid significant public interest. Controversies surround the late singer’s death. There are also ongoing family disputes over his assets.
