The Aloba family has intensified demands for an impartial investigation into the controversial death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad. In a formal statement, family spokesperson Omolayo Aloba and Mohbad’s father Joseph Aloba also instructed the late artist’s partner, Wunmi Adebanjo, to cease using the family surname pending court-ordered DNA verification.
Family’s Unwavering Demand for Justice
The family maintains its commitment to uncovering the truth about the 27-year-old’s demise. “We demand a transparent, independent investigation into Mohbad’s death,” the statement declared. “We seek justice, truth, and accountability for those responsible.”
Legal Team Appointments
Oladayo Ogungbe of Ogungbe & Ogungbe Attorneys was appointed as the family’s sole representative for DNA and estate matters. Senior Advocate Dr. Wahab Shittu will continue handling communications with investigative authorities regarding Mohbad’s death.
Estate Administration Plans
Three administrators – Ajewole Aloba, Rasaq Famuyiwa, and Alonge Aloba – were designated to manage Mohbad’s assets. They will secure letters of administration to oversee royalties, properties, and musical intellectual property.
“A position remains open for Wunmi Adebanjo,” the statement clarified, “provided DNA results confirm Liam as Mohbad’s biological son.”
Surname Restrictions and Marriage Status
The family mandated that Wunmi discontinue using ‘Aloba’ in any official capacity until paternity is legally established. They emphasized that no statutory or traditional Yoruba marriage occurred, as bride price payments were never completed.
Should DNA confirm Liam’s paternity, both mother and child would be included in estate proceedings. The family urged public patience, noting the DNA process aims for legal clarity rather than vilification.
Future Arrangements
Burial and memorial plans will be announced after resolving DNA-related legal matters. “Justice for Mohbad remains our unwavering goal through lawful means,” the family affirmed.
