Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has firmly dismissed recent claims from an online publication. The report alleged he resigned from the Federal Executive Council. It claimed he could not stand by and watch the U.S. and President Bola Tinubu’s government ‘bombing our brothers in the forest’. Mr. Badaru explicitly refutes this assertion.
In a formal statement, Mr. Badaru branded the report as “malicious, false, and deliberately mischievous.” He insisted he never made such a comment. This applies whether directly or through any representative.
Badaru described the claim as fabricated. He believes it aims to damage his reputation. It also seeks to strain his relationship with President Tinubu. Furthermore, it intends to create needless controversy around national security.
He emphasized that his actual reasons for resigning were formally communicated to the President. Credible media outlets widely reported these reasons. Badaru warned that any other narrative is “a complete falsehood engineered by mischief makers.”
The former minister reaffirmed his strong loyalty to President Tinubu. He also restated his commitment to Nigeria’s peace and stability. He further pledged his continued support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This support is especially important as the 2027 general elections approach.
Mr. Badaru served as Minister of Defence until his recent resignation. He affirmed his dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
