Daniel Sturridge recently shared details of a private chat with Mohamed Salah. He revealed the Egyptian winger’s commitment to Liverpool remains unwavering. Salah’s decision to stay at Anfield has not changed.
Sturridge spoke about this on Amazon Prime as a pundit. He confirmed he had discussed Salah’s situation and plans directly with the star.
Sturridge quoted Salah directly. “Mo has told me, ‘I love this football club. I don’t want to leave this club. This is where I want to be’,” he stated.
However, Sturridge added a caveat. “I don’t know how he is going to feel,” he remarked. “But I think the manager and Mohamed Salah need another conversation.”
Amidst this ongoing tension, Salah is preparing for international duty. He will join Egypt for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Meanwhile, controversy surrounding Salah grew. This happened after Jamie Carragher labelled the forward a “disgrace.” Carragher’s comments followed a recent interview that made headlines across Europe.
The Liverpool legend later apologised to Salah on Tuesday. However, his initial remarks sparked a furious response. Ahmed Elmohamady publicly defended his fellow Egyptian.
Elmohamady shared his strong views on his 𝕏 account. The former Aston Villa defender called Carragher’s comments insulting. He argued that Salah’s career clearly shows his status. Salah is among the best players of his generation.
Elmohamady directly addressed Carragher. He wrote, “Right, Jamie, you’re a disgrace. Salah completely rewrote his story. He did so through hard work, humility, and world-class performances.”
He continued, highlighting Salah’s journey. “He didn’t ‘fail’ at Chelsea; he was never given the chance,” Elmohamady stated. “He went to Italy, rebuilt himself. Then he came to Liverpool and became: a Premier League legend, Egypt’s greatest ever player, and one of the most consistent forwards of his generation.”
Elmohamady further praised Salah’s impact on African football. “Salah has carried Egypt for years,” he wrote. “He helped Egypt qualify for the World Cup twice after a long absence. Salah earned everything.” Elmohamady then turned his focus to Carragher. “No wonder you got blanked by C.Ronaldo. No wonder Messi called you out. No wonder Mourinho said you were below average. He even said you weren’t in the top 1000 defenders in the Premier League.”
