Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta offered a detailed update on his squad’s fitness. The Gunners are set to host Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night. They aim to regain momentum after a recent 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
Arteta used his pre-match press conference to discuss four key players. These include Kai Havertz, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Leandro Trossard.
Key Player Injury Status
The coach began by addressing Kai Havertz’s condition. Arteta confirmed Havertz remains several weeks from returning to action. “Kai Havertz is still weeks away,” Arteta revealed. He expressed strong personal admiration for the player. “We are all desperate to have him,” Arteta stated. He values Havertz’s contribution, character, and personality greatly. “I see him suffer, being outside,” he added, noting the player’s frustration.
Similar caution applied to Gabriel Magalhães. The Brazilian defender is making good progress. However, he is also weeks away from rejoining full training. “Gabriel Magalhães is doing very well,” Arteta explained. “But it will take weeks to see him back.”
More encouraging news emerged regarding William Saliba and Leandro Trossard. Arteta suggested their injuries are less severe. Both players could return in a matter of days. “For William Saliba and Leandro Trossard, hopefully it’s a matter of days,” he commented. The Arsenal boss described Saliba’s setback as “a very bizarre injury.” He remained optimistic, adding, “hopefully it will be a short time out.”
Arteta’s updates provide fans with a clearer picture of the squad’s challenges. The Gunners face a tough period with key players sidelined. They hope for quick returns to strengthen their push for top honours.
