Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie has called for the immediate release of Sammy West, brother of her colleague Regina Daniels. The demand comes after Sammy’s controversial arrest linked to the ongoing marital crisis between Daniels and her billionaire husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Sammy West was reportedly detained on Monday without access to legal representation, food, or water. Sources allege Senator Nwoko vowed to maintain the detention until Regina Daniels returns to their marital home.
Mercy Johnson expressed outrage through her Instagram story on Wednesday. She condemned the arrest and prolonged detention as unjust. The actress highlighted concerning details about Sammy’s treatment.
“The worst form of injustice is pretended justice,” Johnson stated. She revealed Sammy was transported from Lagos to Abuja. Authorities allegedly took him directly to court from the airport without permitting family contact.
Johnson concluded her post questioning Nigeria’s justice system. She used the hashtags #whereissamuel and #freesamuelojelagewu to amplify her demand for Sammy’s release.
