Nigerian reality TV star Mercy Eke has expressed her readiness for motherhood. She is prepared to raise a child as a single mother. This decision comes if marriage does not happen soon.
The 33-year-old influencer revealed her stance. She explained she would proceed with having a child. Marriage is not a prerequisite for her at this stage in life.
Financial Independence and Societal Stigma
Mercy Eke addressed societal judgments. She stated that stigma around single motherhood does not affect financially independent women. Her hard work, she noted, has positioned her well.
She can comfortably support herself and her children. She believes this stigma targets those facing financial struggles. It applies mainly to parents without financial stability.
Marriage Not a Current Priority
Marriage is not Mercy Eke’s immediate focus. She mentioned not yet meeting someone who matches her expectations. She is still waiting to find her desired life partner.
“I’m ready to have a child outside marriage,” she affirmed. “At this point, if I get pregnant now, I’m just going to have my baby.”
She elaborated on her capacity. “I have worked so hard,” Mercy explained. “I think I can take care of myself and three kids.” She added that this stigma affects those “who don’t have things going on well for them.”
Mercy Eke concluded. She said, “I’ve not met the person I want to spend my life with.”
