Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, widely known as Liquorose, recently shared a pivotal moment in her journey.
She revealed how a major setback almost cost her a spot on the popular reality show in 2020.
This unfortunate event left her deeply disheartened.
She nearly abandoned her long-held dream of joining BBNaija.
In 2020, Liquorose and fellow hopeful, Jaypaul, tested positive for COVID-19.
This diagnosis prevented them from participating in that season’s competition.
Despite this significant disappointment, both contestants bravely returned.
They re-auditioned for the show the following year.
Liquorose confessed she almost skipped the 2021 audition altogether.
Her previous experience had left her hesitant.
However, a supportive friend encouraged her to try again.
She ultimately went through the rigorous selection process.
To her surprise, she later discovered she had been chosen.
Her persistence proved fruitful.
She competed in Big Brother Naija Season 6 (Shine Ya Eye) in 2021.
Liquorose emerged as the first runner-up.
She narrowly lost the coveted grand prize to Whitemoney.

“In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show,” she narrated.

She continued, describing the emotional toll.
“That experience truly affected me.”
“The following year, I almost didn’t want to audition.”
“But my friend convinced me to try.”
“I simply auditioned and then forgot about it.”
“One day, I decided to check my spam folder.”
“There, I discovered I had been selected. It was truly crazy.”
