Popular Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, widely known as Liquorose, has shared a revealing story. She recounted how she almost missed her chance on the reality show in 2020.
This setback left her feeling profoundly discouraged. It nearly made her abandon her long-held dream of joining the highly watched show.
Liquorose was not alone in her predicament. She and fellow hopeful contestant, Jaypaul, both tested positive for COVID-19. This unfortunate diagnosis prevented their participation that year.
Despite the initial disappointment, both hopefuls returned the following year to audition once more.
Liquorose admitted she almost skipped the 2021 audition entirely. Her past experience had left a deep impression. However, a friend’s encouragement prompted her to give it another try.
She eventually went through the entire audition process. Later, she discovered she had been successfully selected for the show.
Her persistence ultimately paid off handsomely. Liquorose competed in Big Brother Naija Season 6 in 2021. She finished as the first runner-up, narrowly losing the grand prize to Whitemoney.
Recalling the painful moment, she stated, “In 2020, I was backstage at the BBNaija opening show. I was dressed up and make-up done, but I was not called. That really hurt me.”
“That experience weighed heavily on me,” she further explained. “The following year, I didn’t even want to audition. But my friend convinced me to try.”
“I just auditioned and forgot about it,” Liquorose continued. “One day, I checked my spam folder. There, I discovered my selection. It was crazy.”
