A Nigerian fashion designer seeks assistance after losing ₦2.6 million in a Lagos apartment fraud scheme. The victim, known online as @dorah_xo, revealed she and her sister paid for a two-bedroom unit in October. They aimed to secure permanent housing through this transaction.
Shockingly, they discovered the same property had been sold to over 30 individuals. All transactions occurred before the developer disappeared without explanation.
Developer Disappears After Receiving Funds
According to the victim’s account, the property manager collected payments from all buyers. They then vanished completely. The victims received no communication or support following the payments.
@dorah_xo contacted authorities about the situation. Unfortunately, no meaningful resolution emerged from these efforts. The financial loss proved especially painful since she took additional virtual assistant work to save for the apartment.
In a social media video, she expressed her distress:
We have not gotten any response back. We have spoken to some authorities. None of our efforts have yielded positive results. The worst part? Our current residence lease expires this November.
I’m a fashion designer who took extra virtual work to afford this property. Now I feel completely helpless. I desperately need advice on what to do next.
Imminent Housing Deadline
Their current rental agreement concludes in November. This leaves the sisters facing potential homelessness without alternative accommodations.
Public Warning Issued
The designer cautioned Nigerians about Lagos property searches:
Scam alert! Nigerian property hunting now resembles a horror film. One man collected payments from 30 people for a single property before disappearing. I share this to prevent others experiencing similar trauma.
The victim shared a video detailing her experience, appealing for public assistance with her housing crisis.
