January 24, 2026: State Congresses

Usman Calls for Mass Participation
At the National Steering Committee inauguration in Abuja, Senator Usman urged Nigerians to actively engage in party activities. She described the registration drive as vital to “rescue Nigeria’s democracy,” inviting citizens to join LP ahead of the 2027 polls.
The interim chairman acknowledged recent party challenges: “Our party, like many opposition platforms, has faced intense distractions. Most issues have been resolved by courts, and we’re confident remaining matters will soon be settled.”
Usman emphasized reorganization as essential preparation: “As we enter election season, repositioning and strengthening our party is both necessary and strategic for upcoming responsibilities.”
Expanding membership has been a priority since her appointment, though internal challenges caused delays. Usman expressed confidence: “With this launch, we’ll recover lost ground and emerge stronger for upcoming tasks.”
The former senator urged existing members to revalidate registrations and invited new supporters to join, reaffirming LP’s commitment as a “credible, people-driven political alternative.”
