Rabiu Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has affirmed his party’s continued relevance in Nigeria’s political arena. He dismissed claims of the NNPP’s impending defeat in the 2027 elections as unrealistic.
The ex-Kano State governor made these declarations during a BBC Hausa interview. This occurred amid ongoing celebrations for his birthday. Kwankwaso reiterated the NNPP and Kwankwasiyya movement’s dominance prospects.
He specifically highlighted their strong position in Northern Nigeria. When questioned about potential electoral malpractice, Kwankwaso expressed confidence in improved transparency. He believes the 2027 polls will differ significantly from previous elections.
Kwankwaso stated money would no longer determine electoral outcomes. He attributed this shift to Nigeria’s increasingly politically aware youth population. Voters now possess greater understanding of political processes.
“Those predicting our 2027 defeat live in denial. Significant changes have occurred. Young Nigerians are now more politically conscious.
The coming election won’t resemble past contests where money decided everything. Citizens are better informed today.
Our confidence stems from the people-centered Kwankwasiyya movement. Betrayers of our cause will witness the electoral consequences.”
