Popular Nigerian actress and media personality, Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, widely known as Kiekie, recently shared a deeply personal story. She revealed how a private moment of intense prayer in 2018 profoundly changed the course of her career.
Kiekie recounted that her fashion business was struggling at that time. This left her feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about her next steps.
The immense pressure caused her to withdraw from everyone around her. She isolated herself indoors for several days. To avoid interruptions, she even pretended to have traveled. This allowed her to find the quiet space needed to seek divine answers.
Days of Solitude and Supplication
During this period, Kiekie remained in the same outfit. She prayed constantly, barely touching any food. She spent her days alternating between the floor and her bed. There, she cried out to God, asking for a fresh start in her life and career. She described these days as some of the most challenging she had ever faced.
Her turning point arrived on the third or fourth day of her self-imposed retreat. A woman unexpectedly called her, offering a sewing job. Kiekie rushed out immediately to meet this woman. That singular job became the critical doorway to a significantly better phase in her career.
She affirms that from that pivotal moment in 2018, her work and personal life began to flourish. She has continued to experience steady progress and success ever since.
Reflecting on the experience, Kiekie shared her raw emotions: “I locked myself up for days. No food, no bathing, no change of clothes. I was practically on the floor crying. I told God, ‘I need you to turn my life around.'”
She continued, recalling the immediate aftermath: “I hadn’t even had a bath. I just brushed and ran to Ikeja. That was the beginning.”
Kiekie concluded with gratitude, stating: “From 2018 till now, it has been fantastic, fantastic.” Her story stands as a testament to the power of faith and perseverance in overcoming professional challenges.
