Lawmakers representing the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the House of Representatives have firmly dismissed reports suggesting plans to defect to rival political parties. The 13 legislators from Kano State declared their steadfast allegiance to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiya Movement during a press briefing in Abuja.

Led by Hon. Garba Diso, the lawmakers addressed recent speculation about possible defections following political realignments. Diso characterized these reports as “mischievous and baseless” attempts to undermine the party’s unity.

“We categorically debunk these unfounded rumours and urge the public, our supporters, and Nigerians to disregard such misleading claims,” Diso stated emphatically.

According to the legislators, the rumors originate from political opponents disturbed by NNPP’s growing influence and internal cohesion. Diso attributed the speculation to detractors intimidated by the party’s expanding reach across Kano State and Nigeria.

The lawmakers clarified that their engagements with members of other parties reflect commitment to bipartisan cooperation rather than disloyalty. They emphasized these interactions aim to advance national unity and good governance.

“Our cross-party engagements shouldn’t be misconstrued as defection plans. We’re dedicated to collaborative governance that benefits all Nigerians,” Diso explained.

Commitment to Kwankwasiya Ideology

The legislators reaffirmed their alignment with NNPP’s core values and the Kwankwasiya philosophy championed by former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. They highlighted the movement’s principles of justice, equity, and people-centered governance.

“We remain steadfast to the NNPP and Kwankwasiya ideology. No misinformation will shake our faith in this movement or its leadership,” Diso asserted.

The lawmakers concluded by pledging continued service to Kano constituents through the NNPP platform. Despite recent political shifts within the party, the Kwankwasiya-aligned caucus maintains its unity and resolve.
