A profound tragedy has impacted the Anglican community in Kaduna State. Venerable Edwin Achi, an Anglican priest, was killed by his abductors. He was kidnapped along with his wife, Sarah. The incident occurred in Chikun Local Government Area.
Bandits stormed their Nissi community home on October 28, 2025. This late-night raid led to the couple’s abduction. Their daughter was also taken captive during the incident.

Initially, the abductors demanded N600 million as ransom. This figure was later reduced to N200 million. However, Achi’s family could not secure the required funds.
The Diocese of Kaduna, Anglican Communion, issued a solemn statement. It announced the death of Venerable Edwin Achi. He served as Priest-in-Charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero. The Diocese confirmed his passing. His abduction happened on October 28, 2025. This loss is deeply painful. It affects the entire Diocese, the clergy, and the Church family.
