American boxer Jake Paul received immediate medical attention following his knockout defeat by Anthony Joshua during their high-profile heavyweight bout in Miami. The fight concluded in the early hours of December 20th, with Paul requiring hospital assessment for a suspected jaw injury.
Paul reported significant jaw pain immediately after the match. His promotional team confirmed he skipped the post-fight press conference for medical evaluation. Most Valuable Promotions CEO Nakisa Bidarian stated: “We believe he sustained a broken jaw but remains in stable condition. He transported himself to the hospital after showering.”
Bidarian noted jaw fractures are common in combat sports, typically requiring 4-6 weeks recovery. Paul entered the ring as a considerable underdog against the former heavyweight champion. Despite attempting to counter Joshua’s power with movement and speed, the experience and size disparity proved decisive.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer confirmed his future lies in the cruiserweight division. “After healing, I’ll return to fight opponents in my weight class,” Paul declared. “My target remains the cruiserweight world championship. I need rest following six intense years.”
Future Boxing Plans
Paul previously held the WBA’s #14 cruiserweight ranking before slipping to 15th. Potential future opponents include unbeaten prospect Pat Brown. Paul also maintains interest in facing Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. A rematch with Tommy Fury, his only previous conqueror, remains another possibility.
