A Lagos court has discharged popular auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna. He is widely known as IVD. The court cleared him of any connection to the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
Bimbo’s family had previously accused IVD of causing her death. This led to his arrest and prosecution. The Lagos State Government handled the case.
Following the recent ruling, IVD’s partner, Blessing CEO, shared the outcome on social media. She expressed great joy over the court’s decision.
She also used the moment to advise people. Her message was to leave harmful marriages or relationships. This protects their wellbeing. Blessing CEO celebrated the verdict, stating: “Discharge and acquitted 15th December 2025. It ended in praise. Four years of tears and false narratives are over. Nigeria’s justice system still works. I am proud of my country. IVD, you can now have your life back. Congratulations.”
She further added a strong admonition. “If marriage or relationship no dey work, please run! Don’t wait for anybody to pass. Run!” she urged.
Background of the Case
Bimbo Ogbonna died in October 2022. She suffered injuries from a fire incident at their Lagos home. The incident drew significant public attention. Reports linked it to domestic issues within the marriage.
In March 2023, IVD was charged with involuntary manslaughter. This occurred before a court. He later secured bail. The legal proceedings, however, continued.
The legal process saw several developments. He was re-arrested on August 1, 2025. The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions carried out the arrest. This occurred as he travelled to Qatar. He was going for his planned wedding with Blessing CEO.
