The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has instructed its members nationwide to prioritize purchasing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from Dangote Petroleum Refinery. This directive follows Dangote’s commencement of direct fuel supply to registered IPMAN members at competitive prices.
IPMAN President Abubakar Shettima confirmed the refinery will begin free delivery to members’ stations across Nigeria starting January 2026. This initiative is expected to further reduce petrol pump prices nationwide.
“Our association controls over 80% of Nigeria’s PMS retail outlets. We assure Nigerians there will be no fuel scarcity,” Shettima stated during a briefing. He emphasized IPMAN’s market dominance guarantees uninterrupted fuel supply.
The collaboration with Dangote Refinery marks a significant development for Nigeria’s downstream sector. Shettima described it as “a major boost to national product availability” and urged all members to patronize the refinery.
“Dangote offers the most affordable prices today. Prioritizing them benefits both marketers and consumers,” the IPMAN leader affirmed. The association praised refinery chairman Aliko Dangote for supporting government price stabilization efforts.
Shettima expressed confidence in federal oil policies while crediting President Tinubu’s leadership. “His reorganization of regulatory agencies enabled this partnership focused on improving Nigerians’ lives,” he noted.
IPMAN’s Stance on Fuel Imports
The association reiterated its opposition to continued fuel imports. Shettima warned import licenses “distort markets, drain foreign exchange, destroy jobs, and deter investors.” IPMAN advocates domestic refining as Nigeria’s sustainable solution.
Outstanding Bridging Debt
While congratulating new regulatory agency heads, IPMAN highlighted unpaid bridging claims exceeding ₦190 billion. Shettima urged the NMDPRA leadership to urgently address this debt upon assuming office.
