The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection in Anambra State. This decision comes after numerous appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting more time before the November 8 governorship election.
New Collection Timeline
INEC’s Director of Voter Education, Victoria Eta-Messi, announced the extension on October 27, 2025. Originally ending October 26, the collection period now runs from October 29 to November 2, 2025. This applies to individuals who registered during recent voter enrollment exercises.
Eta-Messi emphasized strict collection rules. “No collection by proxy is allowed,” she stated. Each voter must personally collect their PVC at designated centers across Anambra’s 326 registration areas.
Voter Participation Call
INEC urged uncollected card holders to utilize the extension window. The commission praised Anambra residents for their cooperation. Officials encouraged voters to prepare for participation in the crucial governorship poll.
Election Preparedness Confirmed
Separately, INEC confirmed Anambra’s readiness for the election. A delegation inspected facilities, logistics, and security arrangements. The team included National Commissioners Rhoda Gumus, Sam Olumekun, Kenneth Ukeagu, and Baba Bila.
Their week-long assessment verified operational preparedness. This ensures smooth election proceedings across the state’s polling units.
