General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, a former military Head of State, has sent a strong message. He addressed the Federal Government. Nigeria currently faces new waves of kidnappings and terrorist threats.
The retired general shared his views on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He stated that authorities should show no mercy. This applies to anyone connected to terrorism.
He issued a firm warning. Do not negotiate with criminals. Security forces must confront violent organizations. They should use full force.
Babangida explicitly wrote, “No bandit, terrorist, negotiator, or sympathizer should be spared. Their actions disrupt Nigerian peace. If I were president, this would be my directive. It would go to the Nigerian military and state governors. We will fight back decisively. No negotiations will take place.”

Heightened Kidnapping Incidents Across Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger States
Babangida’s remarks are timely. Many Nigerian states face renewed security issues.
In Kwara State, residents from Ekiti and Ifelodun LGAs are worried. Armed groups recently kidnapped travelers and farmers.
Kebbi State also reports bandit invasions. Areas in Danko-Wasagu and Sakaba LGAs were affected. Villagers were abducted. Many families had to abandon their homes.
Niger State faces ongoing tension. Several abduction incidents have occurred. These include recent kidnappings of schoolchildren and farmers. Shiroro, Munya, and Rafi LGAs are particularly affected.
