Nigerian singer Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has made a direct appeal to President Bola Tinubu. He urged the President to tackle the nation’s persistent insecurity by significantly boosting the earnings of all security personnel across the country.
Harrysong highlighted that the current remuneration for those who daily risk their lives to protect Nigeria is woefully inadequate. He emphasized the critical role of these officers in maintaining peace and order.
The music star believes that improving their welfare packages would greatly motivate officers. This, in turn, would strengthen the ongoing fight against crime and enhance national security efforts.
He implored the government to make security service a more rewarding profession for those on the front line.
In a social media post, Harrysong directly addressed President Tinubu. He wrote, “TO MR PRESIDENT. IF YOU REALLY, TRULY WANNA END INSECURITY IN NIGERIA 🇳🇬 ? Start by increasing the salary and allowances of the armed forces, the salary of the army, the navy, air force, the Nigerian police force, is too small, is too shameful. Increase their salary, this job should be worth dying for. Increase their salaries ooooooo pls and pls.”
In a related development, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has also voiced strong criticism. He recently berated President Bola Tinubu over the country’s current economic and social state, adding to the growing public discourse on national challenges.
