Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has distanced himself from the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to expel Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. The move occurred during the PDP national convention at Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
In an official statement, Governor Fintiri rejected the expulsion. He stated he wasn’t consulted about the decision. Fintiri believes removing Wike harms PDP’s interests. He warned it could worsen existing party conflicts.
“I categorically dissociate myself from expelling the FCT Minister,” Fintiri declared. “This action doesn’t benefit our party. I refuse to participate in anything that might push PDP into endless crisis.”
The governor emphasized his commitment to PDP’s stability. “As a loyal member, I stand for peace within our party. I won’t support actions leading to its disintegration. Reconciliation remains our only viable path forward.”
Fintiri urged all party stakeholders to heal internal divisions. He called for unity and cooperation among members. “I encourage everyone to work toward cohesion. My position is driven by peacebuilding goals.”
The governor reiterated his dedication to PDP’s progress. “I’ll keep supporting initiatives that foster stability. Peace and reconciliation guide my approach to party affairs.”
