Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced a significant political shift. He has officially joined the Accord Party. Governor Adeleke also declared his intention to seek re-election for a second term in 2026. He will run under the Accord Party banner.
The governor made this announcement today. It happened at the Banquet Hall of the Government House. National and state leaders of the Accord Party were present.
Why Governor Adeleke Switched to Accord Party
Governor Adeleke clarified his decision. He explained that he joined the Accord Party over a month ago, specifically on November 6th. This move followed weeks of extensive consultations. He met with stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.
“Stakeholders and residents of Osun state understand our decision,” Governor Adeleke stated. “We plan to seek a second term in office. The Accord Party platform will allow us to complete our ongoing good governance initiatives. Our democratic dividends have received wide acclaim, both locally and internationally.”
He further elaborated on his choice. “We opted for the Accord Party,” he said, “because its mission of welfarism perfectly aligns with our passionate focus. Our administration prioritizes citizens’ and workers’ welfare.”
United for Progress in Osun State
Governor Adeleke welcomed the party leaders. “I welcome our party leaders into the Osun State Government House,” he announced. “You are now part of us, and I am part of you. We are united in progress. Our intentions are good for the people of Osun State and Nigeria at large.”
He emphasized the party’s future goals. “At this historical point, our task is to maintain a united front. We must prepare diligently for the upcoming elections. We have a duty to ensure inclusive leadership. The interests of all groups must be cared for.”
“Our party, Accord Party, is here to lead Osun governance,” he declared. “We will sustain the delivery of good governance in our dear state.”
The governor shared his admiration for the party. “Since joining, I have been fascinated by this great party’s philosophy. People’s welfare should always be central to public leadership. A government’s primary essence is the welfare and well-being of its people.”
Prioritizing People’s Welfare and Service Delivery
Governor Adeleke highlighted his administration’s achievements. “As governor, I have prioritized our people’s welfare. This includes workers and all citizens. We implement policies and programmes day and night. Our goal is to elevate their well-being. From infrastructure to social services, Osun has seen unprecedented improvements in governance and service delivery.”
He called for broad support. “Today, we unveil this new platform for Osun state residents. From Osun West to Osun East to Osun Central, this is our party. It is our new platform for victory next year.”
“From Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ifeland to Osogbo, Iwoland to Modakeke, Gbongan to Igbajo, Ikire to Ikirun, Ede and other Osun communities, we must unite. We must work towards our collective desire for good governance.”
The governor expressed confidence in future support. “Osun voted for good governance in 2022. They will support continuity in 2026. The majority of our people desire continuity. Accord is our party for victory next year.”
Concluding his announcement, Governor Adeleke stated, “In line with our stakeholders’ will, and respecting the wishes of Osun people, I hereby formally declare for the Accord Party.”
