Hon. George Turnah has dismissed claims of his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Turnah serves as the PDP South-South Zonal Secretary and caretaker Chairman for Bayelsa State. He urged the public to ignore reports from what he called a “social gathering in Ibadan.” He labelled these reports as misinformation.
Turnah’s stance was conveyed in a statement. His media assistant, Kelvin Egbo, issued the release.
Expulsion Claims Lack Merit
Turnah described the expulsion claims as efforts by “political opportunists and mischief-makers.” He maintained that the PDP has not held a lawful national convention since 2022.
He stated, “This is merely a pitiful display of desperation.” It comes from certain political opportunists and mischief-makers within the party. “Such claims hold no merit,” he added. “They can be dismissed as good riddance to bad rubbish.”
Turnah stressed that the last recognized PDP convention happened in 2022. This convention aimed to select the party’s presidential candidate. It took place before the 2023 elections.
Turnah also noted the PDP Constitution. He said it “clearly outlines offences and disciplinary procedures.” It also “ensures the right to a fair hearing.” This is a prerequisite for any disciplinary action.
Turnah affirmed his status. He remains a duly elected official. He is a committed member of the PDP. He dismissed all suggestions of his suspension or removal.
He concluded by asserting his loyalty. It remains “steadfast” and “unshakeable.” This loyalty is to Nyesom Wike. Wike is the party’s national leader. He is also the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
