Galatasaray is reportedly pursuing a move for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman. This could reunite him with fellow Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen in Turkey.
The Turkish club previously attempted to sign Lookman last summer. Negotiations stalled when Atalanta demanded €60 million for the winger. Galatasaray’s General Secretary Eray Yazgan recently addressed transfer plans.
“We currently have an excellent squad that’s quite sufficient. We’re building on it as our coach desires,” Yazgan stated at an awards ceremony.
Lookman arrives at negotiations as the reigning African Footballer of the Year. His time at Atalanta has been turbulent. The 26-year-old previously went on strike after a failed transfer to Inter Milan.
Controversy continued when he clashed with former manager Ivan Juric. The incident occurred during Atalanta’s Champions League match against Marseille. Reports indicate Juric grabbed Lookman’s arm during a substitution.
Juric has since been replaced by Raffaele Palladino. Despite the managerial change, Lookman’s future remains uncertain. His contract with Atalanta runs until June 2027. This lengthy agreement means any transfer requires significant investment.
